Set on Praça Luís de Camões between Chiado and Bairro Alto, this 18th-century building was redesigned by Pritzker-winning architect Eduardo Souto de Moura. Interiors are calm, crafted and very Portuguese.
It is the ideal base for walking: theatres, churches, bookshops and miradouros are all on the doorstep, and the rooftop is one of the best sunset spots in town.
